I like to record the date of when I have significant thoughts of Treasure: I awoke very early this morning after having dreamed of Treasure. I could have sworn “*he” was in bed sleeping between Ryan and me. Our new fuzzy headed, diapered-bottom, blankie-grasping, footy-pajamaed, softly snoring little treasure. That would really be something because we’ve never [...] This morning we met with the caseworker who is writing our updated home study now that we have moved to Colorado. The meeting was pretty straight forward. We’re sort of “been there-done that” when it comes to adoption paperwork. We have learned that “hurry up and wait” is the category to place pretty much everything [...] I heard about 3 referrals earlier in the week, but the final count for this round is 5 referrals. They have been slow to come so far this year so this is exciting for those of us on the “waiting list”. We have gotten the ball rolling in having our immigration paperwork transferred to Denver and [...] Three Bethany families received their referrals yesterday on April Fool’s Day. Two one-month old infants – a boy and a girl, and a 5 year old girl will soon make the huge transition to their new families who have been eagerly waiting. ********************** Hannah was the prankster yesterday – setting the dinner table with plastic kiddie plates and [...] Here is a quote from my Adoption Specialist in a note about getting our immigration paperwork transferrred from St. Louis to Denver: “You’ll need to take care of this soon, as you could be receiving a referral in the next few months.” …and it just made me smile… I think I have said here before that I think my heart is guarding itself against how difficult the waiting is while seeking to adopt a child. It was such an arduous process in waiting for Ellie’s referral. The waiting time frames doubled during our wait (unfortunately, China is way beyond that at this point). [...] a couple of nights ago that I was in labor and quite surprised to be pregnant in the first place. Ryan was around telling me to breath, but we didn’t make any move toward calling a doctor or going to the hospital. It was obvious to me that there wasn’t really a baby coming, but that [...] …on the referral front. Several Bethany families received referrals yesterday. One is an infant and there are a couple of young sibling groups who will be coming home in early 2009. Several other families will have their court date on December 24. The Bethany representative will go to court to represent the adoptive parents for this [...] whether we adopt a boy or a girl. I will be thrilled with a third girl to round out our princesses or I will be thrilled to use blue in our nursery and watch Ryan toss a football with a son. But, I am beginning to believe Ryan really, really needs a boy. It [...] One Child, Two Mothers One mother who waits, and wonders, anticipating how this New One will fit into the rhythm of her family.
